There area unit variety of aquaponics styles getting used to grow healthy organic vegetables. The tank farming section of Associate in Nursing aquaponics systems uses variety of styles itself. 2 of those styles area unit called closed- loop and flood-and-drain aquaponics.

Closed-loop aquaponics involves recirculating water through the hyroponics system, therefore unendingly reusing the water. it's a nonstop flow system. Plants area unit fully grown in a very reservoir that is full of water and a grow bed. The cleaned water exits through a drain hole, that comes from the grow bed. The grow bed consists of gravel or clay particles and is wherever the plants receive their nutrients.

The flood-and-drain aquaponics system also used a media of gravel or clay where the plant roots receive their nutrients. This method controls the water flow within the grow bed of the hydroponics system. The media in the grow bed is frequently flooded and drained of water. This process provides nutrients to the plants and causes the gravel or clay media to be filled with bacteria. This bacteria turns ammonia that has built up in the water, to nitrates that can be used by the plants. In this system a pump is used to fill the grow bed to the desired level. Once this level is reached, a switch is used to sense this and cause the pump to shut off.
These two types of hydroponic system designs are used extensively in media based aquaponics. These designs are commonly used in home based aquaponics systems. Whatever design you choose to use, if you want to build you own aquaponics system, will provide you with fresh healthy organic food. However proper knowledge of how to implement such systems is needed. Accessing a proven resource about these types of systems is recommended.
